So here we are again... Throwing Punchlines, no one wins... As the morning sun begins to rise, we're fading fast..." What really sucks when you're the youngest brother is that nothing is kept a secret anymore... Meaning... everything you try to hold in manages to get spread around the whole family before breakfast... The boys had met at home for breakfast with their mom... The combination of bacon, sausage, pancakes, and scrambled eggs got the boy's attention too fast, and what ensued after they were all full was war.. "I'm supposed to be taking Morgan out this weekend, but she doesn't know that yet.." Will began, tossing Jay a look. Of course, being the younger brother meant you had to respect your older brothers...
Even at a time like this.. "I don't think she's with anyone right now.."
Once again, Jay kept his mouth shut, swallowing the last of his orange juice as calmly as he could. He tossed Will a look, warning him to shut his trap before he did it himself, but the message seemed compromised, because Will didn't quit.. By the time Jay had gotten fed up with it, Will had laid out entire plans to hold her hand, kiss her, and tell her all these dumb stories about Jay... stories that Morgan already knew, rather well. She was there, remember?
Jay tossed him a vehement death glare on the way out the door, his keys in hand...
Sliding into the drivers seat after kissing his mom goodbye and thanking her for breakfast, he headed back to the dorms.. What he didn't count on is the asshole to follow him there... He wanted to study.. and fume... in private.. and Will didn't seem to get that through his thick skull. Apparently, the football had gotten to his head a few too many times with concussions, and now he was just an idiot, plain as day.. When the door opened, and Will stuck his smiling face into the room, Jay responded by chucking the football from Will's bed at him..
"Bastard... leave me alone.." Will entered, confused, and stooped to pick up his football, tossing Jay a grin.. "What's eating at you, kid?" When he reached for Jay's shoulder, he jerked away, speedily getting from his bed to the floor, and pulled on his shoes.. Standing up, he passed Will, but he followed, as always.. So caring a brother, to insult you and your new romance, and then not realize what you'd done.. "Dude.. did I say something? Is this about this morning.. Look... I don't think Morgan would even date me anyways.. what's your stitch?" He'd reached for Jay's hand, and that was the blowing point..
"What the hell is your problem!?" he asked, whipping around to shreik at Will.. "You go around talking all this smack about how your such a great brother, and then you go on and talk about my girlfriend like that right in front of me?!" He was screaming as loudly as he could now, bellowed up in Will's face.. Will just stared at him, shocked.. He'd not seen Jay this angry, ever... Neither of them noticed the girls watching them.. They were standing out on the dorm lawns... It made for a good show..
"I didn't know.. man.."
Jay cut him off.. "yeah.. that's right.. Because you've still got a corn cob stuck up your ass about me... How I was the attention stealer, and now.. you're making a bangup job of getting it back, ass hole!" He yanked away again, atempting to escape, but Will caught him.. Damn him and his athleticsism... "GO AWAY!" he yelled again, his voice a growl almost.. He'd still not noticed that one of the girls in the crowd was Morgan.. "It's not very considerate to expect me to know when you don't tell me... these.. thi-..." That was it.. Jay shoved his hands against Will's chest, and he fell back a few steps..
"No.. it's inconsiderate of you to think that way when you could have simply asked... you never ask me anything because you've got front man plastered on your damn forhead, and the mic stand shoved up your ass... I really fucking hate you right now.. The girl I love, and you're going to joke around about her like that.. It's not funny.. It's actually insulting.. GO the hell AWAY before I do something I'm not going to be happy about.."
Will stared at him, shocked.. Then he bowed up himself.. "Oh.. well it's not my fault you've waited until now to tell her you're into her... and then not tell us when she says that it's the same way for her... God dammit.. Jay! Wait.." He ran after Jay, but it was the biggest mistake he'd made of the day.. In just seconds, Jay had slung his right arm around, and met Will's lips with it, shutting him up for a moment of peace... Will fell backwards immediately, crashing to the grass with a startled scream of pain... He'd broken will's nose... or jaw.. or something.. he had to have, when Will was screaming like he was..
In second, Jay was running blindly away from Will in fear... He didn't know she foolowed... He stopped at the park, having run as fast and as far as he could, before he'd nearly suffocated... He inhaled deeply, his voice rough because his throat burned, and hit his knees.. he'd just punched the shit out of his brother, and he was the one who wanted to cry? Well Will had brought it on himself.. The sound of his phone ringing scared him, and he jumped up, looking around..
When he saw her, he froze, staring.. He didn't know what to say now..

she was having a really good day.
good, meaning that she hadn't had any phone calls from her mother, pleading her to forgive her for not mentioning that she was "just getting married" to another guy that morgan didn't know. also meaning that she didn't have to babysit any of the usual children; it seemed as if all their parents had taken them out by themselves today. also meaning that she had the boy of her dreams as her boyfriend; he was her's. also meaning that that night they had a date, and she was going over to slowly promp him into it. she knew that jayden didn't like dates much, but she did -- she loved, especially, when a boy took her out to the amusement park and then to the beach for a moon-lit dinner. morgan might've not looked like it -or, let's face it, act like it-, but she loved romantic dinners. she loved everything about them; the feel of the atmosphere (unless it was awkward, which in that case.. wasn't so pleasant), the candles that the datee usually lit for the dinner, the little gift that always came with it, and, of course, the excellent food which had to be excellent.. or it wasn't really a romantic, moon-lit dinner. then it was just a.. barfing; moon-lit dinner. this time, though, it would be different. as the person she was, morgan loved to take risks and do daring things, and even though it wasn't something that put her life in danger, it was something that put her love-life in danger..
she was going to ask jayden out on a date.
and serve the food, make sure he had a good time and hopefully end the night romantically. if it all went well, which morgan hoped was the scenario and was going to be the outcome. smiling to herself, she left to his dorm after her breakfast at the local restaurant, as usual. she didn't like cooking herself meals because it took longer than ordering -or atleast, in her opinion- and getting the food. besides, she had cash on her. her mother was more than just plain rich and even though that they weren't on talking terms, she still sent an envelope full of money each month so that, aside from her babysitting, morgan could go out shopping. morgan didn't really like shopping --doing some kind of sport was more her thing--, but she couldn't deny nice new clothes when she was offered a chance. after all, this was high school.. with no uniforms, surprisingly, condsidering that they did have dorms. the rules about the way that people dressed were a little strict, but aslong as they didn't all look the same and wear the same itchy clothes, morgan could live with that.
she heard the fight before she saw it.
she was just crossing to jayden's dorm that he shared with his brother that she heard the yelling. she knew instantly that it was him; she couldn't mistake his voice for anything, but the tone he was using definitely surprised her.. and scared her. she turned the corner, seeing a little group of on-lookers, and joined in, trying to figure out what they were fighting over.. afterall, sure, jay and will had their fights, but it was never anything serious like this.. jay never got so riled up about anything before, and now he was doing it because of her? she felt something stab her heart like a knife as she watched the brother's shout it out, before it turned physical when william tried to make amends and stop jayden from walking off.. she couldn't believe her eyes when her boyfriend socked his own brother in the face, and gasped when will let out a loud cry of pain.. she went to see if he was alright, kneeling beside him and telling him that she'd call a doctor from campus. she did, then told him to wait right there -like will had a choice- and ran after jayden.
of course, the park.
panting as she finally caught up to him, morgan froze when jayden fell to his knees and looked like he was going to cry.. she couldn't exactly blame him, as far as she knew he'd never gotten in a fight like that before, let alone with his own brother, and slowly went up to him, pushing some strands of hair behind her ear. "jayden.." morgan whispered, fear striking her again in her chest. what was going through his mind? "what.. why did you hurt him?" her voice cracked; she was almost hysterical. even though she knew that the brothers had scrawbles before, it was never anything serious like this -- morgan knew how much family meant to each and every one of the renfro trio.. "i didn't know you could get that mad, i mean.." she inhaled, pausing for a few moments to gather her words and suck in a shaky breath. "i.. i've never seen you like that.. ever.. and, to be honest, it kind of scares me.." she whispered the last part, keeping a safe distance away from jayden like he was some kind of animal. "how can i love and trust you when.. when i feel like i don't know you?" she asked softly, finally.

So here we are again... Throwing Punchlines, no one wins... As the morning sun begins to rise, we're fading fast..." Why did she have to come now, and tell him something like that.. She knew it wouldn't help the situation any.. and now she was afraid of him? He'd never intended to scare her.. He didn't even know she'd seen it.. He frowned softly, his eyes searching her face for a moment.. "Why did... hurt him?" he added, sniffing softly... His emotions were off the wall today.. "I hurt him, because he said things about you that made me angry..." He shook his head.. "He's always had a problem with me.. you can ask Eric..." He shook his head, looking down at the ground..
"This is why I'm normally soft spoken.. Because I don't like this side of me either.. he just wouldn't quit!" He threw his hands up, fighting back tears.. "He said he was going to ask you out... and.. kiss you.. and then he tried to be all nice about it... I just wanted to be left alone.." He took a few steps towards her, and reached for her hands, his own trembling.. "Morgan.. I would never show you that anger.. not aimed at you.... I was angry because he offended me.."
He shook his head.. "As for hitting him.... I just lost it.."
He let go of her hands, and covered his eyes, crouching.. "I'm such an idiot! I punched my own brother in the face... is he okay?" He knew the answer to that.. When the sight of his father's car leaving the school passed, he knew will was laying in the backseat with a busted bone... He didn't know whether more impact reached his nose or his jaw, but one of them had snapped. "I'm so sorry you witnessed that, and if you'd like to end things with me, I understand..."
He looked up at her with dark, pleading eyes, and silenced himself.

it broke her heart to see him like this.
sure, she'd seen jayden cry before. the two were best friends; they did everything together, talked about everything together (except for their secret love for one another), and.. well, seen eachother's highs and lows. he knew about her mother and the changing husbands; changing new dad's which never replaced the lost one. she knew about everything he had gone through -- the issue of attention between him and his brothers. she knew that they had fought before, but she had never heard it was ever this bad, and she had never seen it this bad before. and he said it was because william said something that jayden didn't like about her? she paused, trying to gather her thoughts. she loved him.. alot. god, she could say it a million times and everytime it would mean the same to her. it's just that.. what if she pissed him off? it was bound to happen sooner or later -- the two were so different; they were destined to get into big fights. and what would happen when they did? would jayden blow up at her like he did with will?
she was scared.
but she was more surprised than scared when he said that will had been talking and teasing about taking her out and kissing her, and her eyebrows furrowed. what? the two of them were nothing but friends, and morgan doubted that he would ever do anything similiar to that. ever. "he was probably just teasing," she whispered softly, still keeping a safe distance from him. she winced a little when he got up and took her hands in his, sparks shooting up her arms and sizzling her heart, instinctively starting to smile. she held it back though, pursing her lips tightly as she looked away. the words came down from her mind and bubbled behind her lips, until they finally exploded in a scared, shaking mess.. "and what if i offend you one day? will you.. scream at me like that? will you hit me?" she elaborated, scanning his face with worried, dark eyes. "i just.. don't know, jayden. i love you, i really do. but i don't know if we can.. do this if there's a possibility that you could hurt me like that." she whispered, running her fingers through her hair. so much for the date.

So here we are again... Throwing Punchlines, no one wins... As the morning sun begins to rise, we're fading fast..." Great... first his brother, and now her? He couldn't win today! He stared at her, not really sure how to take those words.. His first thought was to just cry, like he was fighting so hard no to at the moment... But then he didn't want to, because that would make him look stupid.. Boys his age weren't supposed to cry... "I... I won't say I won't yell, because even though I do everything within my power not to get upset... it will happen.. but I put my life on this... I swear to my death.. I would never lay a hand on you in the wrong way..."
Stepping away from her touch, he shook his head.. "I'd rather shoot myself and die then to hurt you - ever..." He looked down at his shoes, smattered with a mixture of dewed grass and dirt specks, and shook one vigerously, trying to rid it of the mess. He turned back slowly, shaking the other, and looked at her.. "I lost it.. He really bothered me saying those things.. You're not just the girl I'm dating.. youre the girl I love.. and he deserved every second of that sock in the face today, for what he said.. and in front of me! That's what made me really mad.... like he was trying to piss me off.." He shook his head, and sighed..
"I'm sorry you had to see that.. I didn't want that at all.. not even hitting him.."

he swore he wouldn't.
and, even though jayden had occasionally promised her things and hadn't come through with it, he'd kept his promises more often than none.. and she believed that he'd come through with his promise this time. "okay," she whispered, looking down a little. she didn't know what to say. maybe she was being a little over-dramatic, but she'd.. she didn't want to be hit again. especially by him. she bit her lip and looked up at him, moving a curl out of his sad-looking eyes, and kissed him softly, reassuringly.. no, she wasn't going anywhere, atleast not that day..

As the morning sun begins to rise, we're fading fast..." When she came to him, and met his lips in a kiss, her gentle touch just before, brushing his hair away, it was like an instant shot of relaxing medication.. He calmed immediately, though he knew he'd be upset even after this, and kissed her back for a moment, his hands slipping around her waist.. Pulling her into a hug when he let her lips go, he sighed softly and shook his head..
"I'm so sorry about this.. I really didn't expect it to get that far.. and I never expected me to get so out of hand... I guess he found the right nerves to step on..." Leaning back to look at her face, he laughed.. "I think, maybe, we'd better go check on Will, though.. and make sure he's okay.." He winced softly, and checked to see if his keys were in his pocket.. yep.. They could go..

she was glad that he was okay.
morgan kissed him gently and smiled into it when he kissed her back, her thumb stroking his cheek gently. she smiled a little when he pulled away and brought her into a hug, nuzzling into his neck with her nose and exhaling a little. she kissed his neck once, her chest still feeling a bit heavy. she knew that william like to joke, but enough to get her boyfriend that riled up? she'd have to talk to him the next time she saw him, and tell him not to do that ever again, unless he wanted another broken face.. of course, he probably figured that out by now, but just in case. morgan and will were different in that way; even though they both loved to cause trouble, play pranks and do some pretty damn daring things, she knew when to stop. and he didn't, apparently. sometimes he needed someone to tell him when to stop, and she hoped that he would find that someone soon, because, well.. the incident today was just a reminder of that.
his eyes were so hypnotizing.
morgan nodded when he pulled back from the hug and looked her in the eyes, her own shinning a little with love for him. her lips curled into a little smile and she nodded, brushing her fingers through his dark chocolate colored curls. "i know you're sorry," she whispered, scanning his eyes with her own. she saw genuine guilt and sadness and she pecked his lips, smiling a little more at his suggestion. "yeah, we should. and you should apologize," she reminded him softly, pressing a chaste kiss to his forehead. morgan nodded when he checked if he had his keys and took one of his hands in her's. "let's go, then." she whispered.
