I wear a greasy ball cap, I wear my shirt untucked..I spend saturdays working on my truck• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Jayden flipped the dial on the radio, finding the nearest station playing country. Hey, it was him and his brothers, dad was off getting dinner with mom, and Eric was running the shop for the day, so they could listen to whatever they wanted. When the song "Guys like Me" by Eric Church came on, the boys whooped in joy. It was strange, them working together like this. Usually, Eric was off to college, Jay was studying or writing, and Will was doing sports. Today, however, was the first day they'd been together in a few weeks, and the vibe was obvious... They were all thrilled to even be in the same room together.
"I wear a greasy ball cap! I wear my shirt untucked! I spend saturday's working on my truck!" were the first words that entered the silence, Jay helping Eric drop the motor in, head first into the engine space... William chimed in with the next line.. "I don't like to fight.. But I ain't scared to bleed! Most don't mess with a guy like me.." They all tapped something when the chorus started..
"Cause Guys like me drink to many beers on friday after work! My best blue jeans have skoll rings.. I wear my boots to church.. So rough around the edges.. it's hard to beleive.. That girls like you.. Love guys like me.."
The ended in harmony, suprisingly, and Will leaned back over Eric's car, twisting a nozzle off his radiator, checking to make sure everything was in order. For Eric's car, it was just a checkup.. As for their dad's friends truck, it was a long road ahead.. "Monkey Wrench.." Will muttered, digging through a box of tools after slamming Eric's hood shut.. "Nevermind.. got it.." He then went to check the tires, pumping the jack..
"Hey.. Jay.. make sure these wires are out of the way.. and hand me that screwdriver.." He complied, leaning around the truck to make sure the jack on this one was still secure, and then pushed the wires up out of the way, held by some duct tape.. He paused at the click of heels filling the service area, but still where they couldn't see.. "Did mom where heels today?" he asked Will, and he shook his head.. "nah.. mom hates them nowadays.. it was shiny black flatts.."
Jay shrugged, and went back to watching Eric, making sure everything was out of his way.. "Wrench?" he asked, and Eric nodded. He went to reach for it, and then he looked down and Eric was looking at the back of the truck.. "Yah.. not mom's heels..." Jay jerked up so fast to look, he hit his head on the hood, and then yelped in pain, falling back into the open space.. He caught himself, carefully crawling out, while Eric and Will laughed at him.. "Not funny, jerks.. Can we help.." he added, dodging Eric's feet to walk around the truck..
"You?"
He stopped and stared as was Will, but Eric just kept singing..

Rachel stood there infront of her car. She was broken down and her cell phone battery was dead. She grunted angrily then turned and smiled at what she saw. Just her luck. She broke down in front of a service station. She walked over and looked around. Her heels clicking as she walked. She walked to where she heard music and looked around then heard voices. "Oh yes. My car broke down right outside."she said sweetly to the guy that had asked. Yes. She was shy but when it came to times like these she couldn't be shy.

I wear a greasy ball cap, I wear my shirt untucked..I spend saturdays working on my truck• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • It wasn't like this happened to them all the time. Actually, it was rare that they were all in the same building when a girl showed up, and usually if it did happen, their dad always showed up to help her out. However, fate had different plans for that today.. "Okay.. it died?" Jay ducked under the hood again and looked at Eric.. "Well?" Eric stared at him, as if wondering what he was supposed to do about it.. Jayden made the signal though, and Eric quickly began scooting form under the car... He managed to miss hitting his head like Jay had, but not by much. He reached for the grease rag, up to his elbows in the black oil, and then looked her over. He went to college with her. He gave her a grin, and nodded.
"Okay.. lead the way.."
Eric winked at Will and Jay, shoving the rag in the back pocket of his torn up jeans. He was in a black wifebeater today, so he was a little clear on greasestains on his shirt. He f0llowed her down the road towards her car, and smiled.. "Nice.. shame it died.. Okay.. I'll take a look.. JAY!" Jayden peered out.. "What?" He stared at him.. "Don't what me.. grab a jack, and a kit.. I need a board too.." A crash signaled that Will was helping Jay grab the stuff.. They followed Eric towards the car, and when they'd helped in their tasks, they were gone, returning to work at the shop.. Popping her hood, he laughed.. "I've seen you at college.. what's your major?" he asked, striking up random conversation..

Rachel looked at them and nodded when they asked for clarification. She looked at them then her eyes grew seeing none other then Eric Renfro. She couldn't believe it but she relaxed and looked at him. She nodded and lead him to her car. She stood there looking at her car and then at him and nodded. She looked down then back up hearing and watching him. Rachel stood there staring at the ground then heard his question. "Umm...English. What about you?"she asked softly. Her shy side was beginning to come out. 'Just my luck. Of all the places for me to break down. it has to be where he works. Can't I ever get a break?' She asked herself in her thoughts. Of all the places. It had to be where the guy she liked worked.

I wear a greasy ball cap, I wear my shirt untucked..I spend saturdays working on my truck• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • He gave her a grin, nodding. "Yeah.. I'm in psychology.. Mr. Phelan is awesome.." It was his advisor and his first class teacher.. He loved the guy.. like another father almost. It wasn't hard to believe that either, because everyone Eric talked to love the guy as well. He leaned over her engine, and shook his head.. "Well.. I'm gunna have to go underneath..." He reached for the bench, rolling it over to the edge of her car, and then used a jack on either side to push it up.. The honking horn of a car passing by made him jump.. He supposed, however, that they were honking at her, but when he rose up, the sight of a pink convertable confirmed otherwise..
With his brothers out of sight, he knew it was a honk for him and his greasy hotness. He looked over at her and laughed.. "Anyways.. I think the fix up will only take 50 bucks.. but I'll make sure.. I mean.. don't want you having to come back because I screwed up your car even worse then it is now.." Laying down on the bench, he pulled himself under, looking like he was chopped in half with just his legs showing.. "Hey.. come hold this for me.." he added, his arm coming up through the metal of her engine, offering her a peice of engine that was broken.. "Don't worry.. it's not as bad as it looks.." he added, the twisted peice having busted off her pistons... "It's fixable.."

Rachel nodded hearing him. She had heard the teacher and that he was good but she wasn't majoring in that so it wouldn't of mattered. She sighed softly then looked up hearing a honk. She saw the pink car and sighed. Did he have to leave her? She looked down at him and smiled when he didn't. Rachel heard him and took the part. She looked at it. [color=lightblue"I hate being stereotypical. I feel really stupid."
she said but didn't realize it. She stared at it then heard the price. "It's alright. I don't mind."[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

I wear a greasy ball cap, I wear my shirt untucked..I spend saturdays working on my truck• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • What was she talking about? "Huh? Being stereotypical?" Blinking, he rolled out from under the car to look at her, a smear of grease stealing his attention for a moment, as he reached up to wipe it from his cheek. Laughing, he shook his head.. "What are you being stereotypical about?" Rolling back under, he dug through the toolbox some more, and then began working on another thing.. About that time, Jay came strolling up with a shiny new part for her car..
"Here go.. Hand that too him when he's ready.." It matched the other, though less greasy and tarnished with wear.. He began humming softly, though still listening to Rachel, and Jay stalked off to work on the truck with Will again.. They were almost done.. "Kay.. now hand me the part.." Holding his hand up through the engine again, he waited for her to give him the new piston head, and then returned to it, making sure it would fit properly... When it did, he began to attach it..

Rachel heard him and shook her thoughts. She had said it out loud? "Oh. The girl that doesn't know how to fix a car. I wanted to learn but I never did."she said softly then took the part from Jay and stood there and when he asked for it she handed it to him and sighed softly. She did hate being stereotypical.

I wear a greasy ball cap, I wear my shirt untucked..I spend saturdays working on my truck• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • He gave a groan, finally completing the task at hand on her car.. Just in case, though, he'd look over the engine from the top, since the bottom was all right in his eyes.. Crawling out slowly, he dropped his tools he'd been using in the toolbox, and then leaned over the front of her car, looking over the top of it.. "Well.. It looks good from here.. give her a try.." He could see why her car wouldn't start.. Busted pistions never helped a car go anywhere.. Without a good piston, you didn't have the juice to go anywhere...
He waited for her to start it, and then listened when she did.. Everything sounded good. He gave her a thumbs up, and went over to lean against the car door on the hand he'd just wiped off, sure not to get grease on her pretty paintjob.. "You don't have to pay later... Dad has this pay in a week thing.. But if you don't pay in a week, it's double.. 50 or 100... you choose.." He gave her a laugh, followed by a grin, and shrugged... "You should stop by sometime, around lunch.. and I'll take you out.. how's that sound?" he added, raising an eyebrow...

Rachel watched him and smiled softly as she watched. She then went and started her car. She looked at him and smirked. "I have the money now."she said softly then looked at him and smiled. "I may just take you up on that offer."she said softly to him. Rachel couldn't help it. He was nice.

I wear a greasy ball cap, I wear my shirt untucked..I spend saturdays working on my truck• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Laughing was just the first thing that came to his mind to do when she mentioned taking him up on his offer.. "Well you made that quite easy.. It's not so simple when you're covered in grease, asking a girl out.." He smirked, and shook his head.. "Okay.. I'll write up the paperwork real fast... and you can pay me inside.." He motioned towards the shop again, and slowly pushed off of her car, moving towards the building..
He couldn't help but grin... This was the best day of the month, so far...

Rachel smirked hearing him. "Well...when I know what I like I take up the offer."she said smiling then drove over to the shop and parked. She didn't care if he was covered in grease. He could be in the mud and she would still go out with him. She didn't care. She had liked him for a while. Rachel just never had the courage to ask him herself.

I wear a greasy ball cap, I wear my shirt untucked..I spend saturdays working on my truck• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • She was majorly entertaining to his ego right now.. He had no worried what so ever, for the moment, that he was openly flirting while covered in grease and oil. He gave her a grin from over the counter as he began filling out the form, his neat cursive scribbled across the paper. He marked the place where she was to sign it, and then slid it across the counter for her to do so.. Reaching for his soda, he took a swig, and put it back down.. You could hear Jayden and Will singing in the background.. Eric reached for a clean towel, wiping his face, and then smiled at her, taking her payment.. When he was done, he leaned on the counter, towards her.. "How about.. friday night.. come by.. I'll be here.." he added, smirking..

Rachel smiled as she pulled a fifty out of her wallet and signed on the line. She looked up at him as she heard what he said. She smiled flirtingly and leaned on the counter. "It's a date just promise to take a shower between now and then..."she said glancing down but then looked back up at him. "But a little grease never hurt anybody."she said winking at him then turned and then stopped. "You have any ideas of what a girl should wear?"she asked sweetly. This was a side of her that she had never seen before. She had never really been asked out before so this was new to her. She was just going with the flow.

I wear a greasy ball cap, I wear my shirt untucked..I spend saturdays working on my truck• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Eric blinked, thinking.. "hmm.. well I could see you in some jeans, comfortable shoes, and a cute shirt.. Nothing fancy, but still cute.. I mean, it's not like we're going to a five star resturaunt, though that would be awesome.. I'm not made of money.. " He smiled at his joke, and then leaned up straight, stretching.. "Well.. yeah, something casual, and comfy.. because it's not going to be your average date.. make sure it's durable too.." He gave her a wink, and threw his greaserag in the rag bin.. "Anyways.. I guess I'll see you this weekend?" he asked, his eyes lighting up..
A date.. with a girl he actually liked.. How great was that?
